On multiple desktop PCs at house, a cabled Ethernet LAN is most reasonable and easiest technique to enable sharing an Internet connection. Make an Ethernet LAN to give Internet connectivity to all PC in house at once.
· Connect Ethernet cable to port on the back side of cable or DSL modem. On a router, connect other side to port on router named "Internet" or "WAN." On a switch, connect other side of wire to one of the numbered ports. To dedicate highest or lowest numbered port to this reason to identify easily for troubleshooting a network issue in the future.
· Insert router or switch in power outlet. See activity lights blinking on both router as well as modem.
· Power down PC. Connect Ethernet cable at the back side of PC, and connect other side to one of the numbered ports at the back side of router or switch. Power on PC. It should set up contact with router or switch instantly. Open web browser and verify that PC can get online.
· Follow earlier steps for all of other PCs.
