As demand fOr networking wirelessly is continuously increasing, access points are always needed. In places where a wider range is required, access p,oints need to be mounted higher to cover more area and 'distance. Power connections in high places are difficult to install and that's where the ZYXEL NWA 1100 comes in play. This access point uses the PoE (Power over Ethernet) standard, eliminating the need for an adapter. The NWA 1100 is an ideal 802.11 g WLAN access point focused especially at the 5MB segment to offer high-speed wire-free networking. The product has a rugged build quality, and has two detachable antennae. It can operate wireless connections at a distance of 150 meters indoors and 300 meters outdoors respectively. The Access point can also be configured to act as a repeater, Wi-Fi client or a bridge using the WDS feature.

VERDICT: An excellent product for 5MBs who do not intend shifting to Wi-Fi N in the near future.

FOR: Easy to manage, PoE feature, good build quality.

AGAINST: Slightly expensive.
