Thread: Require help with Home Router

I have installed XP on my PC and Internet link given by Cisco Wireless-N home router. Now I purchase laptop with Windows 7 and wireless capability. I need to share similar internet connection with PC. So I require help with Cisco Wireless-N Home Router to share internet connection on both. Any help will be appreciated.

Before applying any hardware solutions for sharing Internet connection among two PCs, first check that sharing of connection is permitted in two PCs. For monitor sharing of connection among PCs, ISP's track Mac addresses of PCs which are attached to connection. Tracking MAC addresses of PC helps ISP in varying services to PCs which are attached to network.

Configure router manually to share similar connection on both PCs. For this first login to router by default IP address. Type IP address in address bar of browser and open configuration page. In Wireless section choose authentication password, encryption and SSID of router. Then save settings and restart router. Start Wifi on laptop and search available networks. Attach to network which has SSID which you have given and push connect.

Laptop is attached to router by wired connection. After connecting start network connection wizard on laptop. Contact ISP and obtain static IP address. Now right click on LAN and choose TCP/IP properties. Enter the IP address and preferred DNS and default gateway address. Then save and apply settings. Now you can access internet on laptop also.
