Thread: Connecting Modem And Switch

I want to attach my cable modem to a switch and after that have one port supplying my Xbox and another port supplying the router because if I supply Xbox from router it keeps knocking me off live. Any help would be highly appreciated.

A number of cable companies let you let out multiple IP addresses, some do not. If they do not, after that only your router will be capable of get the IP.
If your router is kicking you off of live, I would recommend researching why your router is doing that. Try to upgrade firmware, and confirm your QoS settings.
