Wireless routers permit access Internet and other networks from any attached PC in home or office. If you haven’t protected wireless router, however, freeloaders take benefit of Wi-Fi without knowing. Even worse than Internet grubbers, however, are identity thieves and hackers. They easily access PC and all files by gaining entrance through wireless network. Secure router before any damage is done.
o Turn on PC that is attached to wireless router. Open Internet browser and type in IP address of router. Press "Enter."
o Click "Login". Leave this password field blank and click "Submit."
o Click "Security" in "Wireless" sector of task pane. In "Security Mode" drop down menu, choose "64 Bit WEP."
o Enter password into "Passphrase" box and click "Generate."
o Note down numbers given after "Key 1," as users necessary to type them to access wireless network. Tick "Apply Changes" to save safety settings.
