Linksys router is placed among DSL or cable modem and internal network. Access router configuration console from internal network. Though, to access console from remote place, modify settings in administration section. Linksys router blocks all tries at remotely accessing console for safety reasons.

Instructions
1. Start Web browser on machine placed in internal network. Enter router's IP address in navigation text box. Enter user name and password for router.
2. Click "Administration" tab. Go to "Remote Management." choose "Enable" and enter port number. For ease, leave default at 8080. Check the box "HTTPS." This setting encrypts data between remote machine and router.
3. Enter user name and password for administration. Linksys router wont permit to leave default password when allowing remote administration.
4. Click "Save" to save settings. Open "Status" tab. See external IP address for router. This is address require to access Linksys distantly.
5. Start Web browser and enter IP address from Step 4. Now you can handle router from Internet.
