An ad hoc network is network that permits PCs with wireless network adapters to share resources without needing wireless access point. User makes ad hoc network on one PC and other users attach to that network.
• An ad hoc network is occasionally known as computer-to-computer network as it doesn’t depend on other network devices like access points or routers.
• An ad hoc network is peer-to-peer network. Every user chooses what to share and who can access it.
• First PC in ad hoc network should send signals that allow other wireless network cards know network exists.
• All PCs should have wireless network card that is friendly with one that established network.
• An ad hoc network is proper when attaching only some PCs as there is no central organization.
• An ad hoc network is impulsive and temporary, making it suitable for attaching PCs, so that they can converse during emergency or share resources in meeting.
