VolP is very interesting, as people can use the Internet to make calls anywhere in the world to computers or phones. VolP features are built into some routers, which give higher priority for VolP connections over other data connections.

On the other hand, there are VolP routers that allow phone connections to routers and these are routed through the Internet to the destination. So if you plan on buying a VolP phone to make calls over the Internet, consider a VolP router or at least one with VolP features.
