I bought Dell Inspiron 1300 without integral wireless; you have ability to include it through aftermarket part known as mini PCI wireless card. Dell intended Inspiron 1300 so that end users access mini-PCI slot without having technical background. Install wireless card in Dell Inspiron 1300 to provide capability to access Internet without a network cable.

Instructions

• Turn Inspiron 1300 off entirely. Detach each cable containing power cable, and turn Inspiron 1300 over so that bottom faces you.

• Take out battery.

• Take out three Phillips head screws protecting memory and mini-PCI cover on bottom of laptop. Cover is big flat plastic part with three screws on one side. Take out cover and screws and set them aside.

• Find antenna in mini-PCI compartment. Antenna is thin wire with small gold-colored connector on end. Move it to place where wireless card won’t cover it, and where you able to reach it after installing the card.

• Place card so that notch in connectors on bottom of card line up with tab in metal connectors of mini-PCI slot. Install card at slight angle. Ensure that connectors on bottom of card are completely added, then push top part of card down until metal retaining clips snap around card, locking it in place.

• Press gold-colored antenna connector onto "MAIN" port on wireless card. The "AUX" port is not used.

• Change plastic wrap and three Phillips head screws, and then change battery and every cable. Wireless card is set to use.
