Yes it can. Look for cordless phones that operate in the 5.8 GHz or 900 MHz frequencies. All equipment that operates in the 2.4-GHz band [including Wi-Fi hardwarel is designed to minimize interference with other devices using that band-such as cordless phones, garage door openers, baby monitors, and microwave ovens.

Wi-Fi equipment has to sort out usable signals from the radio mishmash in the air. But some Wi-Fi chip sets don't play nicely with others and may cause interference. If you are a victim to misbehaving hardware, change the channel of your wireless device:

Channel 1 uses the lowest frequency band and each subsequent channel increases the frequency slightly. Channels 1 and 11 do not overlap with the default channel6.

Use one of these three channels for best results. This is usually found under the "Wireless" tab of your router. See question 3 to learn how to administer your router .
