Steps For Installing Bluetooth Devices

You can install any Bluetooth device by using Bluetooth Devices in Control Panel. To connect to a computer from your Bluetooth device, the computer must be set up to receive incoming Bluetooth connections. The passkey and encryption features help to secure your data. However, these and other security measures can be compromised or fail, And, if that happens, your data could be visible to or accessible by other devices or computers within range.

Bluetooth wireless technology should not be considered completely secure. Infrared Wireless Networking There are already a couple of ways to get around using wires. One is to carry information between components via beams of light in the infrared spectrum. Infrared refers to light waves of a lower frequency than human eyes can receive and interpret. Infrared is used in most television remote control systems, and with a standard called IrDA (Infrared Data Association) it's used to connect some computers with peripheral devices. For most of these computer and entertainment purposes, 'infrared is used in a digital mode-the signal is pulsed on and off very quickly to send data from one point to another.

Wireless networking using infrared technology, although slow compared to other forms of wireless networks, comes as a standard on many laptop computers and can provide an easy way to transfer files between computers without purchasing additional hardware. Communication through infrared devices is enabled via the Infrared Data Assuciation protocol or IrDA protocol. The IrDA protocol stack is a widely supported industry standard and has been included in all versions of Windows
operating systems. Infrared devices transfer data at a maximum speed of 4Mbps and have maximum distance of 1 meter.

Infrared specification are shown below in table-3.

Max throughput: Upto 4Mbps
Max Range: 1 meter
Security: None
Compatibility: TrDA
Communication mode: Point to point adhoc.

Advantages of Infrared

• Infrared communications are fairly reliable.
• They don't cost very much to build into a device.

Drawbacks of Infrared

• Infrared is a "line of sight" technology. For example. you have to point the remote control at the television to make things happen.

• Infrared is almost always a "one to one" technology. You can send data between your desktop computer and your laptop computer, but not your laptop computer and your PDA at the same time.
