Clients Connecting To An Available Wireless Network

Automatic wireless network configuration uses the IEEE 802.11 standard for wireless networks and makes it easy'to access those networks. When you enable automatic wireless network configuration on your computer, you can access different wireless networks without reconfiguring the network connection settings on your computer for each location. As you move from one location to another, Windows searches for available wireless networks and notifies you when there are new wireless networks available for you to connect to. After you select a network to connect to, your wireless network adapter is updated to match the settings of the wireless network, and Windows attempts to connect to that wireless network. With automatic wireless network configuration, you can create a list of preferred wireless networks. You can also specify the order in which to attempt connections to those networks.

As in the case of cell phones, you only need the phone and it automatically looks for the nearest satellite in order to connect. Same is the case with wireless network, the client computers can be configured to look for the available access point in order to communicate. To connect to a wireless network follow the: steps

1.Click on the Start button and click the left mouse-button.
2. Inside the push-up menu, move the mouse-pointer and place over the Control Panel option.
3. Open the Network connections
4. Choose available networks from the Connect to Wireless and select the wireless network you want to use.
5. Give the Network Key if required.
6. Choose Connect.
